The V-Light Hair Extension System is Here at Monaco Salon in Tampa

Everyone is talking about the new V-Light Hair Extensions, but what are they all about? Krista Abad, Owner of Monaco Salon and master extensions stylist, heard all the buzz and contacted V-Light to become certified. She has perfected her technique and has already used this method on some of her clients - and she's really impressed with the results.

What are V-Light Extensions?

V-Light set out to create a line of hair extensions that you can't even feel. The attachments are so small, it's as if there were no bonds at all! Even better, the V-Light method is so flexible, it can be used with any type of loose hair, not just V-Light's brand of hair. They are amazing when used to cover breakage around the hairline, along the part, or to fill in an area that's highly visible.  They are super lightweight, so they work well on tender heads.

Krista's Opinion on V-Lights

The V-Light approach is appealing because it gives hair extensions stylists another option to help create a lightweight, natural look for all our clients. Because the points of attachment are so slim and barely noticeable, we can use the V-Light technique for high-visibility areas. For clients with tender scalps, we can incorporate these lightweight bonds for the most delicate areas. We also appreciate the ability to use our preferred brands of hair while utilizing the V-Light technology for the attachments. It's all about having options to customize our services for perfect results!

V-Lights can go where no other extensions could go, but they should NOT be used all over the head as the only method. Krista will only use this method in a supporting role. Ready on to learn why.

How Does the V-Light System Work?

Using a special bonding solution and a UV light, bonds are set and cured on the spot. We gather small sections of loose hair or snip off the tops of a pre-finished keratin tip or tape-in weft. We line up the loose hairs with a tiny section of your natural hair and apply a bead of the clear bonding solution. With a small brush, we feather the solution into your natural strands, then cure them with a UV wand for a few seconds before moving on to the next section. The solution acts like an adhesive, instantly drying and becoming practically invisible to the naked eye. It's remarkable how the hair easily separates and you can run your fingers through it.

V-Lights are best as a supplemental method, not on its own

It's important to distinguish that V-light attachments are not meant for full or even partial head applications. V-lights are excellent for those in between areas where other extensions can't go. They work along your hairline, in between wefts, and best when paired with another method. We may use V-Lights to fill in areas or help conceal sparse areas, but we don't recommend them for a full head application.

How Do V-Light Attachments Stack Up to Other Hair Extensions?

Each attachment method has its strengths. Our job as experienced professionals is to match our clients with the method that's best for their hair.

V-Light Method Advantages:

- Super discreet attachments are perfect for around the front hairline and along the part.
- By using loose sections of hair, we're not limited to pre-finished weft sizes and can really customize our approach.
- These invisible bonds feel weightless, even in delicate areas.
- The method can be used with any brand of extensions made from natural hair.

V-Light Method Disadvantages:

- This is a meticulous application, and it's meant for high visibility zones, in between wefts, around the face, along the part.
- Since hair sheds along with your natural hair, these attachments may need to be maintained more frequently due to the smaller size.
- As with tape-ins and keratin bonds, extra care is needed when using styling tools, and heat should not be applied directly to the bonds.

Maintenance

We recommend a maintenance visit every 6-8 weeks to keep them looking their best.
